January US Construction Spending Falls, Residential Building Down
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 03/23/26 10:15 AM EDT10:15 AM EDT, 03/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US construction spending fell by 0.3% in January, compared with a 0.1% increase expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg and following an upwardly revised 0.8% increase in December.
Private residential construction fell by 0.8%, with single-family home construction down 0.2% and multi-family construction down 0.7%.
Private nonresidential construction declined by 0.4%, while public construction rose by 0.6%.
