The funding is part of more than $1 million that was awarded to 13 Louisiana nonprofits by FHLB Dallas through Bonvenu Bank.

?These Baton Rouge organizations are doing vital work that empowers residents to protect family property and build long-term stability for future generations,? Bonvenu Bank Vice President of Community Development Michael Colston.

The following organizations received funding to provide educational services:

  • EnvisioNBR: $25,000. EnvisioNBR is a neighborhood-based nonprofit that works alongside residents and partners to revitalize North Baton Rouge neighborhoods through housing stability, heirs? property education and financial literacy programming
  • The BRidge Agency: $25,000. The BRidge Agency supports youth and families through community-based programs and provides culturally responsive financial literacy and estate-planning education to help families protect and grow generational assets
  • Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge: $25,000. Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge repairs homes and revitalizes communities while offering wraparound services, including legal education, referral and property financial literacy to help low-income seniors maintain safe, stable housing
  • Mid City Redevelopment Alliance: $25,000. Mid City Redevelopment Alliance provides housing counseling, financial literacy and estate-planning support to help families clarify title, strengthen property ownership and preserve long-term stability

Heirs? property, land or homes passed down without a will, can create unclear ownership that prevents families from obtaining home repairs, accessing disaster relief or preserving family assets.

?Heirs? property challenges can limit a family?s ability to maintain ownership, access resources or build wealth,? said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. ?Through the Pathway Fund and committed members like Bonvenu Bank, we can support organizations that help families preserve their homes, strengthen neighborhoods and secure their futures.?

Last year, FHLB Dallas and 15 participating members awarded $4.3 million in Pathway Fund grants to 42 organizations working to prevent or remediate heirs? property issues. The 2026 application window opens Monday August 3 and offers $3 million. Learn more about the Pathway Fund and how to apply.

In general the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. (As interest rates rise, bond prices usually fall, and vice versa. This effect is usually more pronounced for longer-term securities.) Fixed income securities also carry inflation risk and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties. Unlike individual bonds, most bond funds do not have a maturity date, so avoiding losses caused by price volatility by holding them until maturity is not possible.

Lower-quality debt securities generally offer higher yields, but also involve greater risk of default or price changes due to potential changes in the credit quality of the issuer. Any fixed income security sold or redeemed prior to maturity may be subject to loss.
