01:03 PM EST, 01/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were advancing in Thursday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 0.8% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) adding 0.6%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index was up 0.4%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) rose 0.8%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 0.4% to $96,537, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was rising 1.8 basis points to 4.16%.

In corporate news, The Goldman Sachs Group (GS) reported a surprise increase in Q4 profit as revenue from investment banking and equity trading surged. Its shares climbed 4.6%.
