03:37 PM EST, 01/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were advancing in late Thursday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) each rising 0.8%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index was climbing 3.4%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) added 0.7%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) shed 0.7% to $90,603, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries rose 5 basis points to 4.18%.

In corporate news, Royal Bank of Canada (RY) and Deutsche Bank (DB) are pre-marketing about $1.8 billion of debt tied to Investindustrial's acquisition of TreeHouse Foods (THS), Bloomberg reported. RBC shares rose 0.3%, and Deutsche added 0.6%.
