03:28 PM EST, 01/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were decreasing in late Wednesday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index down 1% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) falling 1.3%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index dropped 2.7%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) shed 0.9%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 3% to $90,869, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries fell 4 basis points to 4.14%.

In corporate news, a former banker at Jefferies Financial's (JEF) UK arm has pleaded not guilty to an insider dealing charge brought by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, Bloomberg reported. Bobosher Sharipov is accused of leaking insider information in 2021 while advising GCP Student Living on a potential takeover bid, the report said. Jefferies shares were down 2.2%.
