US Existing Homes Sales Pace Expected to Accelerate in November
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 02:20 PM EST02:20 PM EST, 12/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The National Association of Realtors' measure of US existing-home sales is expected to accelerate to a 4.15 million annual rate in November, based on a survey compiled by Bloomberg, after rising by 1.2% to a 4.10 million rate in October.
Existing-home sales were at a 4.17 million rate in November 2024, so the year-over-year change would be only slightly negative.
The data are scheduled to be released at 10:00 am ET Friday.
The pending home sales index, also produced by the NAR, was up 1.9% in October but was down 0.4% from a year ago. That measure is taken at contract signing and is meant to foreshadow movements in existing homes closings a month or two out.
The median sales price was 2.1% above its year-ago level in October.
Recent mortgage application data from the Mortgage Bankers Association indicated that mortgage rates rose through much of November, only falling at the end of the month.
The National Association of Home Builders reported on Dec. 15 that builder sentiment improved further in November and December, but said that headwinds remain, particularly rising labor and materials costs.
