US Dollar Mixed Early Friday Ahead of University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment, NY Fed Inflation Expectations Data
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 11/07/25 07:46 AM EST07:46 AM EST, 11/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US dollar was mixed against its major trading partners early Friday -- up versus the pound and yen, down versus the euro and Canadian dollar -- ahead of the release of the preliminary University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading for November at 10:00 am ET and the New York Federal Reserve inflation expectations survey for October at 11:00 pm ET.
The St. Louis Fed is expected to publish its initial gross domestic product Nowcast estimate for Q4 around midday and consumer credit usage data for September are due to be released at 3:00 pm ET, at the same time as an appearance by Fed Governor Stephen Miran.
The October employment report will not be released due to the ongoing government shutdown.
A quick summary of foreign exchange activity heading into Friday:
EUR/USD rose to 1.1559 from 1.1548 at the Thursday US close and 1.1520 at the same time Thursday morning. There are no Eurozone data on Friday's schedule, but European Central Bank policy board member Frank Elderson is due to speak at 8:30 am ET. The next European Central Bank meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18.
GBP/USD fell to 1.3123 from 1.3136 at the Thursday US close but was above a level of 1.3069 at the same time Thursday morning. UK home prices rose more than expected in October, lifting the year-over-year rate, according to data released earlier Friday. Bank of England policy board member Huw Pill is due to speak at 10:15 am ET. The next Bank of England meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18.
USD/JPY rose to 153.1082 from 153.0105 at the Thursday US close but was below a level of 153.6386 at the same time Thursday morning. Japanese household spending fell in September, slowing the year-over-year pace, according to data released overnight. The next Bank of Japan meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18-19.
USD/CAD fell to 1.4106 from 1.4117 at the Thursday US close but was above a level of 1.4093 at the same time Thursday morning. The Canadian employment report for October is due to be released at 8:30 am ET. The next Bank of Canada meeting is scheduled for Dec. 10.
