US Q1 Current Account Deficit Widens Unexpectedly
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 08:39 AM EDT08:39 AM EDT, 06/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The US Q1 current account deficit widened to $226.83 billion from a revised $221.07 billion in the previous quarter, compared with expectations of a $208.9 billion deficit from a survey compiled by Bloomberg as of 7:30 am ET.
The wider current account deficit reflected a primary income deficit after a surplus in the previous quarter and a larger secondary income deficit, partially offset by a smaller goods and services gap.
