Canadian housing starts jump 17% in April
BY Reuters | ECONOMIC | 08:23 AM EDTTORONTO, May 15 (Reuters) - Canadian housing starts rose more than expected in April, increasing 17% from the previous month, data from the national housing agency showed on Friday.
The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of housing starts increased to 279,317 units from a revised 239,747 units in March, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) said. Economists had expected starts to rise to 240,000. (Reporting by Fergal Smith; Editing by Toby Chopra)
