Bank of Mexico cuts benchmark interest rate to 6.50% in split vote
BY Reuters | ECONOMIC | 05/07/26 03:08 PM EDTMEXICO CITY, May 7 (Reuters) - The Bank of Mexico on Thursday cut its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 6.50%, noting that the decision concludes a rate easing cycle that began in 2024. The decision by the central bank's five-member board, which had been largely expected by analysts, was not unanimous, with three governors voting to cut the rate and two voting to hold.
