Chile central bank weighed rate hike in March meeting, minutes show
BY Reuters | ECONOMIC | 07:46 AM EDTApril 1 (Reuters) - Policymakers at Chile's central bank briefly considered the option of raising interest rates at their March meeting in the face of uncertainty stemming from the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, the meeting minutes showed on Wednesday.
The bank's board unanimously voted to hold rates at 4.5%, calling it the most plausible decision, but "several members noted that it was reasonable to give some thought to the option" of a 25-basis-point hike, the bank said. (Reporting by Gabriel Araujo; Editing by Aida Pelaez-Fernandez)
