Russia's Central Bank Cuts Key Rate By 50bps To 15.0%, As Expected
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 08:26 AM EDT08:26 AM EDT, 03/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Russia's central bank (CBR) Friday said its Russia Board of Directors decided to cut the key rate by 50 basis points to 15.00%, as expected.
CBR is widely expected by analysts to deliver a 50bps rate cut on Friday, extending its 'symbolic' monetary easing cycle while maintaining a fundamentally cautious stance, wrote Commerzbank in a note before the policy decision.
The Russian "economy is approaching a balanced growth path," said the central bank in its policy statement, adding that in "February, price growth predictably decelerated after a temporary acceleration in January."
