Chile's economy expands 0.6% in fourth quarter

SANTIAGO, March 18 (Reuters) - Chile's economy expanded 0.6% in the fourth quarter from the previous three-month period, central bank data showed on Wednesday, exceeding market expectations of 0.3% growth in a Reuters poll.

On an annual basis, gross domestic product (GDP) grew 1.6% in the period, while economists had forecast a 1.7% expansion. (Reporting by Aida Pelaez-Fernandez and Fabian Cambero; editing by Gabriel Araujo)
