Employment Data For February Will "Throw Cold Water On Market Hawks" Who Had Price In a BoC Rate Hike

10:18 AM EDT, 03/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- According to CIBC's Katherine Judge, today's employment figures will "throw cold water on market hawks" who had priced in a chance of the Bank of Canada hiking rates this year.

CIBC continues to expect no move from the BoC this year. However, in terms of risks, Judge said a cut is more likely than a hike if the BoC were to have to move this year. "We will need to see progress on reducing trade uncertainty in order to see a sustained improvement the labour market," she added.
