Dow Tumbles Over 1%; US Weekly Jobless Claims Fall

Following the market opening Thursday, the Dow traded down 1.18% to 46,860.18 while the NASDAQ fell 0.92% to 22,506.55. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.86% to 6,717.27.

Energy shares rose by 0.4% on Thursday.
In trading on Thursday, financial stocks dipped by 1.4%.
Top Headline
U.S. initial jobless claims declined by 1,000 from the previous week to 213,000 in the first week of March, compared to market estimates of 215,000.

(TLYS) shares shot up 58% to $2.58 after the company reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter financial results and issued first-quarter sales guidance above estimates. - Shares of Codexis Inc
(CDXS) got a boost, surging 57% to $1.99 following the company’s fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 earnings release. - Vera Bradley, Inc.
(VRA) shares were also up, gaining 40% to $3.54 after the company announced upbeat quarterly earnings.

In commodity news, oil traded up 8.1% to $94.28 while gold traded down 0.1% at $5,178.20.
Silver traded up 1.8% to $87.080 on Thursday, while copper fell 0.3% to $5.8760.
Euro zone
European shares were lower today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 fell 0.7%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index fell 1.6%. London's FTSE 100 fell 0.7%, Germany's DAX fell 0.7% and France's CAC 40 slipped 0.8% during the session.

Asian markets closed lower on Thursday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 1.04%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index falling 0.70%, China's Shanghai Composite slipping 0.10% and India's BSE Sensex dipping 1.08%.
