Sector Update: Financial Stocks Mixed Tuesday Afternoon
BY MT Newswires | TREASURY | 02:17 PM EDT02:17 PM EDT, 03/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were mixed in Tuesday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index rising 1% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) down 0.1%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was easing 0.5%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) was increasing 0.2%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was gaining 3.4% to $70,762.4, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was little changed at 4.13%.
In economic news, the National Federation of Independent Business small business optimism index posted a 0.5-point decrease for February to 98.8.
In sector news, Pershing Square, the investment holding firm of billionaire Bill Ackman, on Tuesday filed for initial public offerings of the hedge fund and a new closed-end fund called Pershing Square USA.
In corporate news, Carlyle (CG) is planning a new credit vehicle internally, called "Project Potomac," that would seed a new buyout fund and also pay back money to some investors in the firm's older private equity funds, Bloomberg reported. Carlyle shares rose 0.5%.

BBVA (BBVA) is close to selling its Garanti unit in Romania to Raiffeisen Bank International in a deal valued at about 550 million euros ($640 million), Bloomberg reported. BBVA shares climbed 3.5%.
