Sector Update: Financial Stocks Rise Late Afternoon
BY MT Newswires | TREASURY | 02/26/26 03:48 PM EST03:48 PM EST, 02/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were advancing in late Thursday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index up 0.9% and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) ahead 1.2%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was adding 0.7%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLRE) was rising 0.5%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was declining 0.4% to $67,734.9, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was decreasing 3.2 basis points to 4.02%.
In economic news, US initial jobless claims rose to 212,000 in the week ended Feb. 21 from an upwardly revised 208,000 in the previous week, compared with expectations for 216,000 in a survey of analysts compiled by Bloomberg.
The Kansas City Fed monthly manufacturing index rose to 5 in February from 0 in January, higher than expectations for an increase to 2 in a Bloomberg-compiled survey.
