Hungary's Central Bank Cuts Rates By 25bps As Expected
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 02/24/26 10:41 AM EST10:41 AM EST, 02/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Hungary's central bank (MNB) Tuesday said its Monetary Council reduced rates by 25bps, as expected by the majority of economists.
MNB noted in its policy statement that from Wednesday, its key base rate will be 6.25%, the o/n deposit rate will be 5.25% ad the o/n collateralized lending rate will drop to 7.25%.
"In the Monetary Council's assessment, favourable developments in underlying inflation and the stability of financial markets allowed for a cautious reduction in interest rates," wrote the central bank in the statement.
