Rwanda's Central Bank Lifts Central Bank Rate by 50bps to 7.25% on Strong Economy, Expects Weaker Inflation
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 02/19/26 06:39 AM EST06:39 AM EST, 02/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Rwanda's central bank (BNR) Thursday said its Monetary Policy Committee decided to raise the Central Bank Rate by 50bps to 7.25%.
BNR noted that the country's economy is strong and that it expects inflation to head back to the target band by late 2026 to early next year.
The central bank also pointed out that the depreciation of the Rwandan franc (RWF) slowed in 2025.
