US Treasury chief urges Fed to have 'open mind' as central bank meets

WASHINGTON, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged the Federal ?Reserve to have ?an open mind ?as the U.S. ?central ?bank met on Wednesday ?to ?made a decision on interest rates.

Bessent, ?in ?an ?interview on CNBC, also said that he ?had spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday about ?his choice ?for the next Fed ?chairman, and that the field of candidates has not been expanded or ?reduced.
