04:15 PM EST, 01/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Major US equity indexes rebounded Wednesday after President Donald Trump ruled out using force or tariffs to take control of Greenland.

* Trump made the remarks during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

* US Treasury yields were mixed, with longer-term rates edging lower. The 10-year yield slipped 2.6 basis points to 4.28%, and the 20- and 30-year yields dropped.

* March West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose $0.31 to settle at $60.67 per barrel, while March Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen up $0.36 at $65.28.

* Moderna (MRNA) and Merck (MRK) said Tuesday that a combination of their experimental drug, intismeran autogene, and Keytruda showed sustained benefit in high-risk melanoma patients over five years following tumor removal. Moderna (MRNA) shares jumped 16% on Wednesday, the biggest gain on the S&P 500, and Merck's (MRK) rose 1.5%.

* Kraft Heinz (KHC) shares fell 5.7%, a day after the company filed a prospectus supplement to register the resale of up to 325.4 million shares held by Berkshire Hathaway (BRK/A) under a 2015 agreement.

In general the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. (As interest rates rise, bond prices usually fall, and vice versa. This effect is usually more pronounced for longer-term securities.) Fixed income securities also carry inflation risk and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties. Unlike individual bonds, most bond funds do not have a maturity date, so avoiding losses caused by price volatility by holding them until maturity is not possible.

Lower-quality debt securities generally offer higher yields, but also involve greater risk of default or price changes due to potential changes in the credit quality of the issuer. Any fixed income security sold or redeemed prior to maturity may be subject to loss.
