White House adviser Hassett plays down probe of Fed chair Powell

WASHINGTON, Jan ?16 (Reuters) - White House adviser ?Kevin Hassett played down the ?federal criminal investigation ?into Federal ?Reserve Chair Jerome Powell ?on Friday, ?saying he expected there would be nothing ?to see.

The ?Fed ?investigation is a simple request for information which ?should come shortly then will move forward, Hassett said in an interview with ?Fox ?Business Network. He said he wished there ?had been more transparency about cost overruns in renovations at Fed headquarters, the focus of ?the Justice Department probe.
