Trump says inflation data means Fed should cut interest rates

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump welcomed inflation figures released ?on Tuesday, ?using the U.S. consumer ?price data ?to ?reiterate his push ?for Federal ?Reserve chair Jerome Powell to ?cut ?interest ?rates "meaningfully."

U.S. data showed consumer prices increased ?in December as the distortions related to the government ?shutdown ?that had artificially lowered inflation in ?November unwound, cementing expectations that the Fed would leave interest rates ?unchanged this month.
