France deeply attached to central bank independence, finance minister tells Bessent and Powell

PARIS, Jan 13 (Reuters) - France is deeply attached to the independence ?of central banks, ?French Finance Minister Roland ?Lescure told ?Fed ?Chair Jerome Powell and ?U.S. ?Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, he said ?on ?Tuesday.

"I ?told Secretary Bessent, and I obviously told ?Jerome Powell, that we are not here to interfere in ?U.S. ?legal proceedings, but we are ?extremely committed to the independence of central banks in general," Lescure said.
