Daily Roundup of Key US Economic Data for Dec. 31
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 12/31/25 01:09 PM EST01:09 PM EST, 12/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Initial jobless claims decreased by 16,000 to 199,000 in the week ended Dec. 27, but the four-week moving average rose by 1,750 to 218,750 due to a 192,000 level in the week ended Nov. 29 rolling out of the calculation.
Insured claims fell by 47,000 to 1.866 million in the week ended Dec. 20.
Natural gas stocks fell by 38 billion cubic feet to 3.375 trillion cubic feet in the week ended Dec. 26, down 1.6% from a year earlier but 1.7% higher than the seasonal average for the current week over the previous five years.
Total crude oil inventories fell by 1.7 million barrels in the week ended Dec. 26, with commercial oil inventories down 1.9 million barrels and stocks in the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve up 200,000 barrels. Gasoline inventories and distillate inventories both increased last week.
