Sector Update: Financial Stocks Decline Friday Afternoon

01:57 PM EST, 12/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks fell in Friday afternoon trading with the NYSE Financial Index and the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) each dropping 0.4%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index lost 0.5%, and the State Street Real Estate Select Sector SPDR eased 0.2%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) fell 1.1% to $87,251, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was little changed at 4.14%.

In corporate news, JPMorgan Chase (JPM) froze the accounts of at least two stablecoin startups in recent months due to legal risks, The Information reported. The bank froze accounts for Latin America-focused Blindpay and Kontigo, which are financed by venture capital firm Y Combinator, the report said. JPMorgan (JPM) shares fell 0.6%.

RLJ Lodging Trust (RLJ) may benefit from some tailwinds in 2026 even amid macroeconomic challenges, Truist Securities said. RLJ shares fell 0.7%.

Capital One Financial (COF) shares rose 0.1% after BTIG lifted its target on the stock to $308 from $264, while keeping its buy rating.
