Sector Update: Financial Stocks Retreat Monday Afternoon
BY MT Newswires | TREASURY | 01:53 PM EST01:53 PM EST, 12/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were decreasing in Monday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) each shedding 0.6%.
The Philadelphia Housing Index was falling 1.2%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was down 0.4%.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was 1.1% lower at $90,463, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries was rising 3.5 basis points to 4.17%.
In sector news, Oppenheimer Asset Management expects the S&P 500 to finish 2026 at 8,100, taking into account projections for strong corporate results next year and sustained US economic growth, the brokerage said in a note.

UBS (UBS) could cut another 10,000 jobs by 2027, Swiss publication SonntagsBlick reported Sunday, citing internal information. In a statement e-mailed to MT Newswires, the Swiss banking giant said it won't comment on the "speculations" made in the report. UBS shares rose 0.6%.
