Brazil sees services-led rebound after weak Q3 GDP

BRASILIA, Dec 4 (Reuters) - Brazil's Finance Ministry said on Thursday it expects the economy to post a positive fourth-quarter growth supported by a slight pickup in services activity, after a weaker-than-expected third quarter.

* GDP grew 0.1% in the third quarter from the previous three months, below the 0.2% forecast in a Reuters poll.

* The ministry's economic policy secretariat said that a slowdown has deepened, reducing the carry-over into 2026.

* It still expects the output gap to close from the second half of 2025, it added in a statement.

* The government officially projects a 2.2% GDP growth this year, down from 3.4% in 2024.

* According to the secretariat, risks to the 2025 growth forecast are tilted to the upside. (Reporting by Marcela Ayres; Editing by Gabriel Araujo)

In general the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. (As interest rates rise, bond prices usually fall, and vice versa. This effect is usually more pronounced for longer-term securities.) Fixed income securities also carry inflation risk and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties. Unlike individual bonds, most bond funds do not have a maturity date, so avoiding losses caused by price volatility by holding them until maturity is not possible.

Lower-quality debt securities generally offer higher yields, but also involve greater risk of default or price changes due to potential changes in the credit quality of the issuer. Any fixed income security sold or redeemed prior to maturity may be subject to loss.
