US Equity Markets Close Lower as Treasury Yields Jump

04:09 PM EST, 12/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US equity indexes closed lower Monday amid a broad market retreat as Treasury yields jumped.

* The Institute for Supply Management said the US manufacturing index fell to 48.2 in November from 48.7 in October, missing economists' expectations for a rise to 49, according to a Bloomberg survey.

* Most US Treasury yields climbed, with the 10-year yield rising 7.3 basis points to 4.09% and the two-year yield gaining 4.1 basis points to 3.53%.

* The S&P Global US manufacturing index for November was revised up to 52.2 from a preliminary 51.9, signaling slower growth than October's 52.5 despite expectations for no change.

* January West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose $1.01 to settle at $59.56 per barrel, while February Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen up $0.99 to $63.37.

* Nvidia (NVDA) made a $2 billion investment in Synopsys (SNPS) to expand their partnership in design and engineering. Synopsys (SNPS) shares rose 4.9%.

* Shopify (SHOP) faced an outage with merchants experiencing issues when trying to log in to the company's platform. The shares fell 5.9%.
