SocGen Sees New Zealand's Central Bank Cutting Key Rate by 25bps This Week; Comments on New Zealand Dollar
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 11/25/25 10:29 AM EST10:29 AM EST, 11/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Reserve Bank of New Zealand is widely forecast to cut the OCR rate by 25bps to 2.25% at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
The shadow board (NZ Institute of Economic Research) supports the decision, wrote the bank in a note to clients.
Market implied rates point to limited easing beyond November, stated SocGn.
The RBNZ statement and forward guidance will be critical for the New Zealand dollar (NZD), barring a surprise 50bps cut, according to the bank.
NZD/USD has retraced to 0.5600 after the rebound in Q2. AUD/NZD is rangebound since last week, having run out of steam in early November, added SocGen.
