RBC Previews This Week's GDP Data in Canada
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 10/27/25 10:22 AM EDT10:22 AM EDT, 10/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- RBC said it expects that the August gross domestic product was flat in Canada.
Canada is scheduled to release the August GDP on Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Wholesale and manufacturing sales both declined after rising in July, and the bank estimates a pullback in the mining sector to partially reverse a 1.4% month-over-month jump in July.
Other service industries likely posted growth, led by a 1.0% month-over-month increase in retail sales.
Early indicators for the advance GDP estimate for September are limited, stated the bank. Hours worked contracted 0.2% month over month and the advance forecast of September retail sales was down 0.7% month over month.
However, the advance manufacturing sales estimate bounced back 2.8%, which, if confirmed, would be the largest one-month increase since February 2022.
