Deutsche Bank Previews This Week's U.K. GDP

11:34 AM EDT, 10/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The United Kingdom's August gross domestic product likely grew -- but only just, said Deutsche Bank.

The U.K. will publish the August GDP on Thursday at 2 a.m. ET.

The bank thinks GDP expanded by 0.1% month over month. There are downside risks to its nowcasts, however. Weaker manufacturing and construction output could keep GDP from budging too much to end the summer.

Indeed, some course correction is likely after an excellent start for the U.K. economy.

Some continued course correction, Deutsche Bank thinks, is likely. Indeed, after a strong H1 2025 momentum, the bank expects growth to shift to a lower gear in H2 2025.

Deutsche Bank sees quarterly GDP tracking around 0.2% quarter over quarter -- but there are downside risks brewing. The latest survey data highlight lingering uncertainty -- particularly with the Fall Budget several weeks away.

Discretionary spending plans may come to a halt as a result. An unwinding of stockpiling and exports growth, the bank predicts, will keep GDP from pushing to above trend growth rates.

In general the bond market is volatile, and fixed income securities carry interest rate risk. (As interest rates rise, bond prices usually fall, and vice versa. This effect is usually more pronounced for longer-term securities.) Fixed income securities also carry inflation risk and credit and default risks for both issuers and counterparties. Unlike individual bonds, most bond funds do not have a maturity date, so avoiding losses caused by price volatility by holding them until maturity is not possible.

Lower-quality debt securities generally offer higher yields, but also involve greater risk of default or price changes due to potential changes in the credit quality of the issuer. Any fixed income security sold or redeemed prior to maturity may be subject to loss.
