Brazil's central bank remains data-driven, says chief
BY Reuters | ECONOMIC | 09/25/25 11:27 AM EDTBRASILIA, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Brazilian central bank chief Gabriel Galipolo said on Thursday that policymakers remain data-driven in their decisions, noting that the economic scenario has been unfolding as expected under a restrictive monetary policy stance.
Speaking at a press conference after the release of the bank's quarterly monetary policy report, Galipolo added the bank has been repeating how bothered it is by deanchored inflation expectations.
Last week, the central bank kept interest rates unchanged at a near two-decade high of 15%. It signaled a "new stage" of a prolonged pause to assess the effects of the current policy. (Reporting by Bernardo Caram and Fernando Cardoso; Editing by Gabriel Araujo)
