US Dollar Rises Early Thursday Ahead of Busy Data, Fed Appearance Schedule
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 09/25/25 07:54 AM EDT07:54 AM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US dollar rose against its major trading partners early Thursday, except for decline versus the Canadian dollar, before a busy day of economic data releases and appearances by Federal Reserve officials.
Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee is due to speak at 8:20 am ET, followed by a quartet of data releases at 8:30 am ET - weekly jobless claims, durable goods orders and advance trade data for August, and an update to Q2 gross domestic product growth that will include annual benchmark revisions.
New York Fed President John Williams and Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid are both expected to speak at 9:00 am ET, followed by existing-home sales data for August at 10:00 am ET, at the same time as an appearance by Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman.
Weekly natural gas stocks inventory data are due to be released at 10:30 am ET and Kansas City manufacturing data for September are due at 11:00 am ET.
Fed Governor Michael Barr is scheduled to speak at 1:00 pm ET, followed by Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan at 1:40 pm ET and San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly at 3:30 pm ET.

EUR/USD fell to 1.1737 from 1.1739 at the Wednesday US close and 1.1751 at the same time Wednesday morning. Eurozone private sector loan growth accelerated in August, according to data released earlier Thursday. The next European Central Bank meeting is scheduled for Oct. 30.
GBP/USD fell to 1.3434 from 1.3446 at the Wednesday US close and 1.3468 at the same time Wednesday morning. UK car registrations declined sharply in August, according to data released overnight. The next Bank of England meeting is scheduled for Nov. 6.
USD/JPY rose to 148.8741 from 148.8556 at the Wednesday US close and 148.4167 at the same time Wednesday morning. Japanese corporate services price rose at a faster pace in August than in the previous month, according to data released overnight. The next Bank of Japan meeting is scheduled for Oct. 29.
USD/CAD fell to 1.3894 from 1.3901 at the Wednesday US close but was above a level of 1.3879 at the same time Wednesday morning. Canadian average weekly earnings data for July are due to be released at 8:30 am ET. The next Bank of Canada meeting is scheduled for Oct. 29.
