03:13 PM EDT, 09/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks were decreasing in late Friday afternoon trading, with the NYSE Financial Index falling 1.1% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) dropping 1.9%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index was climbing 2%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) was up 0.9%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was rising 1.1% to $111,211, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries dropped 9 basis points to 4.09%.

In economic news, the August employment report showed nonfarm payrolls rose by 22,000, significantly below the 75,000 job increase expected in a survey compiled by Bloomberg.

In corporate news, BlackRock (BLK) is leading a group of private lenders in offering a $550 million debt package to Syndigo for it to refinance its two leveraged bank loans, Bloomberg reported. BlackRock (BLK) shares were down 0.2%.
