Federal Reserve View Lifts Wall Street Pre-Bell; Asia Europe Up
BY MT Newswires | ECONOMIC | 08/22/25 07:08 AM EDT07:08 AM EDT, 08/22/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Wall Street futures pointed moderately higher pre-bell Friday as traders awaited comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, slated for 10 am ET at the central bank's annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
The next Fed policy meeting is Sept. 16-17, and Powell's presentation will be combed for clues to central bank inclinations.
The CME Group's FedWatch Tool pegs the chances of 0.25% rate-cut in September at 71.3% vs. near 85%, a week ago.
In the futures, the S&P 500 rose 0.3%, the Nasdaq inclined 0.2% and the Dow Jones was up 0.4%.
Asian exchanges traded unevenly higher overnight, while European bourses tracked moderately north midday on the continent.
On the economic calendar is the Baker Hughes domestic oil-and-gas rig count at 1 pm.
In pre-market action, bitcoin traded at $112,645, West Texas Intermediate crude oil traded lower at $63.46, and 10-year US Treasuries offered 4.33%. Spot gold traded for $3,330 an ounce.
