01:47 PM EDT, 08/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Financial stocks rose in Tuesday afternoon trading with the NYSE Financial Index and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) each gaining 0.1%.

The Philadelphia Housing Index climbed 1.3%, and the Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLRE) added 1.4%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) fell 2.4% to $113,515, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries dropped 3.9 basis points to 4.30%.

In economic news, July housing starts rose by 5.2% to a 1.428 million annual rate from the previous month, compared with expectations in a Bloomberg survey for a 1.297 million rate.

In corporate news, Goldman Sachs (GS) opened a new office in Mumbai, a company spokesperson said in an email late Monday. Goldman shares eased 1.3%.
