The deficit figure excluded expenses related to emergency measures addressing floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Speaking in an interview with TV channel GloboNews, Haddad emphasized the need for the government to improve its communication at a time when global markets remain highly "sensitive". (Reporting by Marcela Ayres; Editing by Gabriel Araujo)
