Argentina inflation hits 3.5% in September, annual rate at 209%
BY Reuters | ECONOMIC | 10/10/24 03:03 PM EDTBUENOS AIRES, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Argentina's monthly inflation rate stood at 3.5% in September, in line with a Reuters poll forecast and down from 4.2% in August, data from the INDEC statistics agency showed on Thursday.
Month-on-month inflation declined dramatically in the first few months of the year but had since May stayed stubbornly at around 4%. The latest data marks the lowest level since late 2021.
Inflation in the 12 months through September reached 209.0%, among the highest in the world, also in line with the poll forecast of 209.1% and slowing from a rate of 236.7% recorded the previous month. (Reporting by Sarah Morland and Hernan Nessi; Editing by Brendan O'Boyle)
