Greek unemployment drops to 9.5% in August
BY Reuters | ECONOMIC | 10/01/24 05:03 AM EDTOct 1 (Reuters) - Greece's jobless rate stood at 9.5% in August, down from 9.9% in July, data from statistics service ELSTAT showed on Tuesday.
Seasonally adjusted data showed 444,402 people were officially unemployed.
Unemployment impacted women more than men, at the rates of 11.6% and 7.7%, respectively.
The jobless rate for young people aged 15 to 24 years dropped to 19.4% in August from 28.3% in the same month in 2023, ELSTAT said. (Reporting by Antonis Pothitos and Olivier Cherfan in Gdansk)
